Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons

The Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons web site provides information about the organization, including a searchable membership database, online conference registration, and an online member profile updating system. Members can either search for other members by state, or update their contact and account information.

Web Site Management
OVSPS staff have access to a CMS for updating all members profiles and downloading a subset of the membership database in CSV format for use in emailing lists and  bulk regular mailing of organization’s printed newsletter.  The CMS also enables staff to manage event registrations, conference exhibitor registrations, and abstract proposal submissions.

PayPal Features
Site users can pay meeting registration fees and exhibitor registrations fees online using PayPal.  Registration forms calculate the amount of the fees then pass this amount on to the PayPal web site where uses can make online secure credit card payments.  Confirmation of payment is emailed to OVSPS staff for recording keeping purposes.

The site also makes use of the PayPal IPN (Instant Payment Notification)  system to enable automatic update of membership status after a member renews their membership by paying the yearly membership fee.  Once the member makes the payment, PayPal directs the member back to the OVSPS web site where a server side script then updates their membership status in the online membership database.  This is a time saving and cost effective system for automating tasks that would otherwise be handled manually by OVSPS staff.
