The Ernie Stadvec Show

The Ernie Stadvec Show originally aired starting in 2007 on the eleven station Cleveland-Akron Television Network (CAT-TV) and has since moved to the internet.  The Variety and News Magazine TV show covers military, Aviation and topics of local interest in Akron and Cleveland.

AVIarts Ltd. consulted with the client and determined that the best web presence for the Ernie Stadvec Show would be a combination of a Youtube channel to freely host the video content and make it available to the largest audience for online video, and a WordPress web site where the client would have full control over presentation of the content, organizing videos into different categories and providing information about Ernie Stadvec, the show’s host.

WordPress Development

In developing the site, AVIarts Ltd. extended a pre-existing theme as a child theme to quicken development time and reduce costs for client.  The client can import video information from Youtube and save it as a video post, and then more specifically categorize content on the web site compared to the more limited categorization options available through Youtube.   Client can also specify a video to be featured on the home page and also update news about Ernie Stadvec in a blog like manner.

Youtube and Web site Integration

For this project AVIarts developed a custom plug-in to integrate Youtube channel and the WordPress web site.  The plug-in enables the client to easily import video information from the Ernie Stadvec Show Youtube channel and saves this data as a custom video post type for the WordPress web site.  The plug-in makes use of the Youtube version 3 api to import video information such as title, description, keywords, duration, publication date, and thumbnail.  This solution streamlines the process of listing Youtube information in the WordPress web site, because the client does not have to re-type the video information for each new video post.  However, the client can go back and easily edit the web site content such as elaborating on a video in the description field, or adding more categories or keywords.

Youtube Channel Set up

AVIarts set up and configured Google and Youtube channel accounts for the client.  Set up includes selecting and preparing artwork and graphics for the Youtube channel, created about channel copy, added links to www.erniestv.com from various areas in the channel, and configured all other aspects of the account.
